Baby time has been sneaking up on us the last couple of months. We're now within a few weeks, and the excitement and anticipation is high in the house! I've been spending a lot of time knitting in preparation, though much less time updating on those knits. Here's what's come off the needles since August.
If it's a boy......
If it's a boy......

Newborn 'Strength' BFL longies dyed by Amanda at Dyeing to Fly

And, I couldn't stand it anymore so I found the closest matching scrap that I could and added a drawstring to those 'Heavenly' longies that I had made earlier.
With these, and the things that I have left over from Nathan, I think I'm all set in the boy department. Girl is another story. Leia is 5 now, and after going through my stash it seems that I apparently sold most of the wool that I used with her, which left me focusing more on the girly knits.

'Nana's Garden' teeny BFL longies dyed by Marina at Stitches Under the Sun.
(These will be our homecoming longies if baby is a girl)

I dug through my scraps and used up my 'Diante' 3-ply purewool and a matching grey for these Newborn longies.

Small 'Quinn' longies, dyed by Three Irish Girls.

And the most recent project (late last night) to come off the needles are these Newborn 'Tender' longies, made from the new Malabrigo Twist. Sarah and I headed to an open house at our local yarn shop on Saturday where I spotted this yarn. I hesitated, but in the end I just had to have it, and have to say now that I absolutely loved knitting these up. The yarn itself is very dense. I am anticipating a low pill, durable pair of longies, yet it was so soft that it felt like I was knitting with a silky cotton, which will be perfect for baby skin! I'll definitely be getting more of this yarn!
I'm not sure if they will get done before baby arrives, though I'm currently working on a pair of Newborn Malabrigo longies in 'Roanoke', which is a mixture of browns. I know I said I needed more girl than boy, but I was so drawn to the richness of the color that I couldn't resist it. My current thought is to add some flowers and possibly a ruffled cuff to 'sweeten them up' a tad, but I guess we'll just have to wait to see what they want to become -smile-
And that's been my last 8 knitting weeks! Stay tuned, as my next post with photos should include a model!
